Council directs staff members to work with Lake Effect team on Lake Street design alternatives

The Wayzata City Council is reconsidering designs for a Lake Street reconstruction project after hearing concerns from some residents and business owners over plans to remove the center lane in order to narrow the street to make room for a two-lane bike path and extra space for pedestrians.

The council adopted a resolution in June finalizing the design validation process and defining the scope for three projects under the city’s Lake Effect initiative, which aims to create and connect public park space and amenities along the lakefront.
