First Presbyterian Church will be hosting its annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 3-6 p.m. The long-running get-together has always been a chance for church and community members to come together for hayrides, music, food and fun, but it’s only recently that the event has been held at the church itself.
“We used to do it at a farm around the corner from us,” says Nancy Riddell-Dudra, one of the event’s organizers.
The McCulley family had been part of the church for decades, Riddell-Dudra says, and the McCulley Fall Fest at the family’s farm was a long-standing tradition until the last farmer passed away a few years ago.
“For years they did a bonfire and hayrides and it was just a lot of fun for the church,” says Riddell-Dudra. “Now, we have it at the church itself and it is open to the public. We’ve tried to keep our spirit of the Fall Festival alive and broaden our reach to welcome anyone who’d like to come.”
