St. Boni cracks down on rental owners

The St. Boni City Council is cracking down on rental property owners in the city who do not comply with the city’s requirements to pass a bi-annual inspection and obtain a rental license. At the council’s Sept. 19 meeting, a public hearing was set for Oct. 17 to consider non-renewal of rental licenses for three property owners who have not responded to the city’s multiple requests to comply.

The two-year licenses are up for renewal on June 1 in even-numbered years. The purpose of the license is to assure both the renter and the property owner that the dwelling is safe and up to code. An inspection by the building official is required to obtain and renew a license.
