The Spring Park City Council approved a preliminary General Fund levy of $1,073,764, collectible in 2019, at the Sept. 17 meeting. The proposed levy represents an increase of three percent ($31,275) over last year.

Mayor Jerry Rockvam noted that the approved preliminary levy increase can be reduced, but not increased, prior to final certification of the levy in December following a required Truth in Taxation hearing on Dec. 3. “In the past, we’ve often come down lower,” he added.

City Administrator Dan Tolsma outlined notable line items in the proposed 2019 budget which is under consideration in his report to the council. The city is facing an increase in the fire service contract with the City of Mound in the amount of $6,000.
