It’s that time of year again: the annual Tour de Tonka bike ride returns for its 13th year. The popular day-long event has grown from 819 riders in 2006 to nearly 3,500 riders in 2017.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 4, and riders of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Riders can choose from eight distances: 16, 30, 36, 48, 57, 62, 71 or 100 miles. There are 12 rest stops along the way, where riders can rest and enjoy food and music. Tour de Tonka’s routes wind through 24 different communities in the west metro, including Long Lake, Minnetrista, Mound, Orono and Wayzata.
