There are new restrictions in place for those fishing from shore within the Wayzata marina.
The ordinance, which came to a unanimous vote at the council’s June 6 meeting, follows concerns raised by a Wayzata resident and boat slip owner related to hooks being found in boat covers and the possibility of lines getting tangled in propellers.
“We had a resident that voiced concern about local fisherman fishing between the boats at the marina,” said City Engineer Mike Kelly.
The new rules from the city restrict fishing to the three loading docks within the Wayzata marina. Two of the loading docks are located within the inner marina and one dock is located in the outer marina.
Signs will be installed by the city to depict the areas where fishing is allowed and not allowed.
