Water Street bustles with a number of pet-friendly businesses where customers can shop, dine and enjoy Excelsior with their furry friends.
“All aspects of Excelsior incorporate pets,” said Natalie Webster, from the store J. Novachis. “The businesses make it easy for owners to do things with their pets. You can shop with your pet, you can dine outside with your pets, you can go walking with your pets and this makes Excelsior unique compared to other cities.”
The City of Excelsior has a number of trails where dogs and their people can go for a scenic walk, including the Lake Minnetonka LRT Trail, which runs from Chanhassen, through Excelsior and ends in Hopkins.
Excelsior also offers the massive Commons Park where pets are encouraged to run and socialize with other animals. Many of the city events are open to dogs. The Excelsior Farmers’ Market runs 2-6 p.m. every Tuesday on Water Street. During the other annual celebrations, including Art on the Lake, Fourth of July Celebration, Apple Day and Crazy Days, dogs often fill downtown Excelsior.
