The Wayzata Utility Department will flush water mains and fire hydrants Sunday, April 16, through Thursday, April 27, weather permitting.
The city will complete all flushing in the evening and night hours starting at 10 p.m. and stopping the following morning at 6 a.m. According to the city, this timeframe will help alleviate discolored water issues during the day.
The flushing process is meant to remove any particulate matter that may have built up in the water mains over the year and to ensure that all fire hydrants on the water system are operating properly.
Because the flushing process may cause the water to become discolored, residents are advised to be observant while washing clothes until after the flushing has been completed. If discolored water is present, run cold water until the water clears.
