Trojans rekindle the spirit of ‘59 

Following a 70-66 victory over Maple Grove Saturday, March 25, the Wayzata High boys basketball team and its fans were in no hurry to leave the court at Concordia University in St. Paul.

The win gave Wayzata third place in the State Class 4A Tournament and a final season record of 28-4, which is a school record.

Everyone wanted to linger so they could savor Wayzata’s first State Tournament trophy since the state-championship season of 1959. It was a touching moment for the program and for the Trojan fans, who have been waiting for this for a long time.
