Shorewood increases fines for multiple rental housing violations 

The Shorewood City Council unanimously approved stiffer penalties of multiple violations for the short-term rental housing regulations at the Feb. 27 meeting.

Last fall, the council approved prohibiting short-term rentals for periods of less than 30 days in residential zoning districts.

The original penalty was $200. Now the penalty will be from $200 to $300 for the first offense with subsequent violations increasing to $1,000 per violation.
