The Mound Community Blood Drive landed itself in the Memorial Blood Center’s top 20 blood drives for 2015 back in September. Around that same time, one of the coordinators who helped make that honor possible quietly passed away.
Arlene McIntyre had been working as a part of the Mound Community Blood Drive for over a decade and made a big impact on other coordinators and helped save countless lives.
“I had been working with Arlene for about 15 years,” Jenny Brown said. “She was so special because she was part of the generation who went quietly about making a difference in peoples’ lives. When she stepped down, it took multiple people to fill her shoes.”
The blood drive on Feb. 23 will honor McIntyre and all of her hard work over the years. The coordinators hope that this drive will meet a goal that McIntyre had for the drives that she never got to see.
