On Nov. 28, the cities of Maple Plain and Independence held a joint city council meeting to recognize two outstanding reserve officers for their dedication to the West Hennepin Public Safety Department.

Reserve officer Lisa Schreier was awarded a six-star years of service pin in recognition of her 30 years of volunteer service. During that time, she has donated over 27,829 hours to West Hennepin Public Safety.

Reserve officer Jeff Strand was also recognized during the special council meeting and was awarded a one-star years of service pin in recognition for his five years of volunteer service.

“West Hennepin Reserve Officers are an extremely dedicated group of volunteers who are called upon to assist our police department at a moment’s notice,” Director Gary Kroells said. “Our reserves officers are invaluable to our police department.”

West Hennepin Public Safety is currently looking for volunteers who wish to give back to their community by becoming a police reserve officer.
