Eighth-grader Katie Clark set the tone for the first-ever Mound Talks event when she said, “If you never do anything different or scary, then you never do anything at all.”
Thirteen Mound Westonka High School students challenged themselves to take the MWHS Little Theater stage on Dec. 4 and present their own TED-like talks to an audience of their peers, teachers, families and community members. The talks were centered on the theme “Own Your Future” with topics ranging from cyberbullying to gender inequality to dealing with the stress of college. Clark’s talk, “How to Be Super,” focused on helping others to be the best versions of themselves.
